Return to Sport Testing

Return to Sport Testing is one of our specialities and passions here at DeWitt PT.

While there is no generally accepted "return to sport" protocol in place for most PT or orthopedic surgery clinic, at DeWitt PT we've been using an evidence-based protocol and system called Move2Perform since 2012.

Recently, research has been pointing to the continued needs of a protocol like this, and as research has updated recommendations, we have updated our protocols and approaches to be up to date with said recommendations.

The result: Clear, objective, measurable and repeatable data to know if and when you're ready to return to sport to minimize the chance of reinjury. Bolster this with our clinical experience of treating and training high level athletes and you have the best care in the business for return to sport.

We use this with all of our return to sport patients here at DPT, but also available for athletes from other rehab settings looking for a world-class evaluation and guidance in their late-phase rehab.

Our Return to Sport Protocol includes:

- PT Evaluation

- Functional Movement Screen

- Y-Balance Upper and/or Lower Body Assessment

- Hop Testing - Single, triple and triple crossover (power, confidence, eccentric and energy absorption, and ability to recycle stored energy).

Using Move2Perform, each athlete is classified by age, gender, level and sport and given a relative risk catetgory. This helps with true decision making, but also makes each test specific to the athlete as compared to their peers.

This is power in data and in assessment, which ultimately drives evidence-based treatments and decision making. That's how we do Return to Sport at DeWitt PT.
